More about my challenge

Starting October 1, 2014 and ending on September 30, 2015, I am challenging myself to gain a greater appreciation for all that I have. And just how do I plan to do this? Let me explain.

1- No new clothes! Yep, you are reading this right. When I explained this one to my husband, he asked what will I do when I loose weight. (What a sweetie!!) Lucky for me I already have enough smaller sized clothes when this miracle happens.
2- No new jewelry, purses, shoes, etc. In fact I plan to go through all my shoes and purses, give them a good trial run, and if I don't like them or they just don't work out, I'll drop them off at our local resale store.
3- No casinos. Not that I have a gambling problem. I'm just tired of throwing my money away on the occasional visit.
4- No new tech toys. (Gulp, this one is a hard one. Especially with the new iPhone just released.)

The only stipulation to any of these (except #3) will be if it's an emergency replacement. I can see this might be needed if my iPad or cell phone dies, but I think #1 and #2 will be a stretch.

You're probably thinking "Is she NUTS? One or two maybe, but all of these? The horror!!" As I mentioned, this is for me to gain a more personal appreciation for what I already have. It's not for financial gain, although I'm sure there will be some.

I'm not putting this out so far in advance so I can run out and shop my head off right up to 11:59 PM September 30, 2014. (Hmm... gotta run! JK) I'm posting this so that I'll be held publicly accountable.

Hopefully you'll follow me on my journey. Feel free to offer tips and tricks for resisting all those special offers that seem to good to be true. If you've tried this, let me know how you did. Were you successful? If not, what was your krypton? If you were, what did you gain?
